deflections are sensed at a series of points on the ground, located as
shown In Figure 5.
The first
sensor (under unit between force wheels) senses the mean of the
deflections at a pair of points in line with the axis of the force
applying wheels, as close as practicable to the wheels themselves. The
remaining sensors each sense the deflection occurring directly beneath
their relocations along the center line of the trailer. Each sensor is
equipped with a suitable base to enable it to make proper contact with
irregular surfaces.
